Latitude and Longitude
In geography, latitude (φ) is a geographic coordinate that specifies the north–south position whereas longitude specifies the east-west position of a point on the Earth's surface.

 Mnemonic:
Latus is Latin for "side" (latitude lines go from side to side, East-West).

 Mnemonic:
"Lat is Fat" (latitude goes around the equatorial belt).

 Mnemonic:
"Latitude is FLATitude".

 Mnemonic:
The "n" in longitude may stand for North (and South), the direction that Longitude lines go on a map.
